I protect your data in line with European General Data Protection Regulations (2018), and as a professional registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
What information do I hold?
As a counsellor in private practice I collect the following information: client name, phone number, email address, postal address, emergency contact and GP surgery name. If you make an enquiry either via email, phone, text message or by or filling out the enquiry form, you are passing on your contact information so that we may are able to communicate in relation to working together.
What do I do with your information?
I store any information securely via an encrypted notes service. I do not keep paper records. I hold client notes for 3 years after our work ends, under GDPR guidelines. After this period, data is erased I keep brief, factual session notes only.
If we are working together, communication about your sessions will take place via your email address or mobile phone number, depending on your preference. I do not store any client telephone numbers on my work phone, they are all stored within the secure system.
I will never share your data with a third party unless you ask me to, or unless obliged to by a court of law, in the event of terrorism or drug trafficking, or unless there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person. In this unlikely event I would aim to inform you first.
As part of my professional practice and as a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) I am required to have Supervision. This is to improve my practice and any client material brought to supervision is anonymised.
